Norwood Evening Garden Club
Norwood, Walpole, Westwood, Canton, Dedham, Medfield, Stoughton & Randolph
TV Personality Roger Swain to Speak in Norwood Tuesday February 28, at 6:45 p.m
Roger Swain will give his perspective, as a horticulturist,
on why we should “Grow What You Eat”
The Norwood Evening Garden Club will host biologist, gardener, writer, and entertaining storyteller, Roger Swain, on Tuesday February 28, at 6:45 p.m. at the Carriage House behind the First Baptist Church, 71 Bond Street, Norwood. The public is invited to attend. A $10.00 donation is requested. Parking is available on site.
Recognized by millions of people as “the man with the red suspenders,” Mr. Swain is the former host of the popular PBS-TV horticulture show, “The Victory Garden,” and long-time science editor of Horticulture magazine. He will speak on his favorite topic, vegetable gardening, encouraging listeners to “Grow What You Eat.”
Susan Pearson, president of the Norwood Evening Garden Club and a master gardener who took Swain’s classes on vegetable gardening says, “I can’t think of anyone better suited to bring this topic to life. He is a fabulous speaker and he really knows his stuff!”
Mr. Swain has penned four books on gardening for which he received the American Horticultural Society’s award for writing. He is also the recipient of a Massachusetts Horticultural Society gold medal for his “power to inspire others.”
When he is not writing, lecturing or being filmed for television, Mr. Swain can be happily found working in his own gardens, either at his home outside Boston or at his farm in southern New Hampshire.
The Norwood Evening Garden Club has been providing education and public beautification in Norwood and Walpole for 15 years. Open to novice and expert gardeners, the Club is a member of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, Inc., New England Region, and National Garden Clubs, Inc. and draws its members from the communities of Norwood, Walpole, Westwood, Dedham, Canton, Medfield, Randolph and Stoughton.
For information about the Norwood Evening Garden Cub, contact Susan Pearson at 508-668-4039 or visit www.NorwoodEveningGardenClub.com.
